The following is a short story of how Project Africa has affected some lives and churches of some areas:
The first report is from Chimwavi IRM congregation -- Zambezia. Pastors Wilson and Zacarias said their Action Plan was
presented to the synodical committee represented by four presbyteries. These presbyteries endorsed their program for the
whole year and asked the pastors who are doing this training to go and train different congregations. They (presbyteries
and synod) promised to donate travel funds for the program. Up to this time the training is talking place in one
presbytery of Liaze in Zambezia province, and the response of the participants is good and encouraging, especially on
stewardship and pastoral care. After seeing the effectiveness of this training, the church elders said they are ready
to come and attend the lessons always and put them into practice.
The second short report is from Kalichete and Vila Ulongue IRM congregations in Tete Province. Pastor S. Bessitala taught
the elders of Vila Ulongue on stewardship, and Timothy taught in Laichete on pastoral care. The outcome was very good.
Most elders said that they gained a lot from this training. In terms of giving to the Lord, the only way they knew
and used was "giving Sunday and pledge offerings." They said it is a new experience to learn how to thank the Lord when our
school children are successful in their exams, when our goats or cattle have got newborn babies, etc.
We hope and trust the Lord is using this training to bring a big change in the lives of people.
Some congregations have a lack of interest since they do not know exactly what Project Africa is. Therefore, we plan to
concentrate on those interested ones and also make a visitation program to other new congregations just to let them
know what Project Africa is all about. If we are looking for successful results, then we should also persevere.
This needs a lot of time.
Greetings from Vila Ulongue
His Grace, Samuel Bessitala
